Interview with Taylor Wagner (@Taywag)
Traveling the world, discovering new cultures, following the summer heat, and living in bikinis, Taylor Wagner truly has the life almost every young woman dreams of. Mizuchi Swimwear had the honor of collaborating with Taylor (@taywag on insta) last November on her trip to the Philippines. After seeing her beautiful photographs, we wanted to know more about her and asked her for an interview, here's what we got:
How old are you, and where are you from?
T: I am 21 years old and I'm from beautiful San Diego, California!
Based off your Instagram, you seem to be quite the worldly traveler! What's been your favorite place to visit?
T: I used to travel to Oahu, Hawaii a lot when I was younger and it was kind of my second home, so probably there just because it holds so many memories close to my heart!
What inspires you to travel? And do you think seeing all these other countries has changed your perspective on the world?
T: My mom inspires me to travel. She's one of my biggest role models in my life and when she was my age she was traveling the world too. She used to show me all her disposable photos from all over and I guess that's what triggered my travel bug. I love traveling around Asia, which is a third world country. I've seen some of the most beautiful places but you also see a lot of poverty and it's showed me how lucky I truly am. Nothing really changes the way you view your own life experience like seeing the way other people live.
Tell us a little about your latest trip to the Philippines, where'd you stay, what'd you do, etc.?
T: The Philippines is so amazing! Crystal clear, blue, warm water is all you need! There's endless palm trees and you motor bike everywhere. Everyone is so friendly and speak a fair bit of English so there's not much of a language barrier as other places. There's lots to do there too! You can go island hopping (as there are over 7,000 islands in the Philippines), go surfing, go swim in tide pools, spend all day at the beach, and eat cheap food! I stayed on an island called Siargao and stayed at Harana Surf Resort. I would definitely recommend this island and this place to stay if you're ever heading that way!
What are some of your best travel tips? (Packing, money saving tips, etc.)
T: Pack light! You'd be surprised of how little you actually use. Save your money and spend it wisely! I'm not really the type of girl to buy materialistic things. Think about it, spend $200 on a new pair of boots or a plane ticket to somewhere you've never been. I'd rather have experience over things, and I've always been that way but every one is different!
Where do you plan on going next?
T: I'm in Australia now with my boyfriend! But I have a plane ticket to Bali so that's probably where I'm off to next.
What motto do you live by?
T: Live every day like it's your last! And even though you can't truly and honestly "live every day like it's your last" but you can live every day like it's your favorite and do the things you love. A few months ago, my dad unexpectedly passed away and it's completely changed my perspective on life. Sometimes the things that you love the most are taken from you, but you must overcome these obstacles and live your life to the fullest. I've never been so heartbroken from my dad passing, but from traveling, I've never been so happy.
Thank you so much, Taylor! xoxo
